Psychological Assessments
What is a psychological assessment?
A comprehensive process for evaluating, exploring and determining your current levels of functioning, learning and overall wellbeing. Assessments are commonly required to understand whether a person meets diagnostic criteria for a particular disorder and may provide justification for additional supports and funding in different areas.
Who completes the assessment?
Psychologist Cassandra Hose provides all assessments but may use the help of your current support network to gather information (including family, friends, allied health professionals and school/work).
Available Assessments
Assessments are usually charged at the hourly rate of the psychologist ($220), however some additional fees may be added for the use of assessment material. The hours noted for each assessment below include report writing time for a comprehensive diagnostic report.
All assessments are personalised to the individual client, this means the time allocated for each client could be more or less. Prior to booking in the assessment sessions, CJH Psychology offers a no-cost intake call to determine the needs of the client and to create a personalised quote, so that the client/funder are aware of the costs of the assessment upfront.
Assessment sessions are pay as you go. Some assessment sessions may be eligible for Medicare rebates.

Cognitive Assessment (4-6 hours)
Exploring intellectual functioning, IQ score and a general understanding of how your brain learns.Academic Assessment (6-8 hours)
Specific learning-based assessment, can determine eligibility for specific learning disorders and provide strategies for students in a school setting. A cognitive assessment needs to be completed before an academic assessment, or the individual has to have had a recent cognitive assessment (less than 2 years ago).Autism Assessment (8-12 hours)
A thorough exploration of the diagnostic criteria for autism spectrum disorder, to determine whether an individual meets criteria. Further assessment and evidence can be provided for applications to the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS).ADHD Assessment (6-10 hours)
A thorough exploration of the diagnostic criteria for attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder, to determine whether an individual meets criteria. Please note: a psychologist cannot provide medication or advise about medical treatment for ADHD but can provide pathways for this.ADHD Screening Assessment (3-4 hours)
This is helpful for those who wish to seek medication through a paediatrician or psychiatrist. It is a short screening to determine if there is likelihood of meeting criteria. Includes a short summary to the treating doctor.
